LOGISTICS BRIEFS

Industrial Info Resources (IIR) Sugar Land, Texas, said Kraft Foods Inc., Northfield, Ill., is "proceeding with plans" to build a 960,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility in Union City, Ga. IIR said Kraft  signed an agreement with Majestic Realty to develop and deliver a build-to-suit facility (reportedly a multi-temp operation) on a 192-acre site in a master-planned industrial business park south of Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Marshalltown, Iowa's Times-Republican newspaper said local officials approved changes to the height of proposed commercial buildings in the city's "heavy industrial" park. The approved shift from a 50-ft. height limit to 100 feet means local meat packer JBS USA can proceed with reported plans to build a cold storage warehouse at least 100,000 square feet and approximately 80 feet high.

Hanson Logistics, St. Joseph, Mich., said direct meat marketer and distributor Omaha Steaks, Omaha, Neb., is using Hanson to support 21 retail stores in the greater Midwest. Hanson Logistics says it manages inventory, order mixing and direct store delivery to Omaha Steaks' Midwest network of retail outlets. Officials say Omaha Steaks is using Hanson Chicago Consolidation Center in Hobart, Ind., which employs a multi-vendor consolidation program.
"Omaha Steaks is a world-class brand known for superior quality and service," says Andrew Janson, president of Hanson Logistics. "We are delighted to have them on board and committed to assuring Hanson 'Yes We Can!' service with every delivery."
