Refrigerated and frozen less-than-truckload transportation specialist H&M Bay recently turned to Motorola and Franwell, Inc. for an RFID hardware and software solution.

This technology locates and records pallet information in real time – giving H&M Bay an instantaneous read of inventory as it enters, moves through and leaves H&M Bay consolidation centers.

This RFID solution lets H&M Bay (1) streamline pallet handling and reduce cross-docking labor by 25 percent, (2) speed freight transfers so fresh and frozen foods are transported more quickly without exceeding temperature mandates, (3) increase temperature-related customer revenues by 0.5 percent, (4) provide real-time tracking of product in cooler and freezer areas and (5) rely on an alert system to ensure the pallets are in the proper temperature storage areas. – Motorola
