JBT Corporation, Chicago, said its JBT FoodTech business will supply $5.5 million in portioning equipment to a "major North American-based poultry company." That processor -- a supplier to both the retail and foodservice channels -- was not identified.

Specifically, JBT FoodTech said it will supply DSI portioning systems and technical support. Officials said the project will help its customer (1) add portioning capacity, (2) improve operating efficiencies and (3) further automate processing capabilities.

"Our portioning solutions group continues to innovate both in terms of our equipment and its applications," said Torbjorn Arvidsson, vice president and division manager for JBT FoodTech's Food Solutions and Services Division. "This project is an excellent example of how JBT FoodTech invests in technology designed to improve the profitability of our global food industry customers."

Arvidsson said JBT received the order in June and expects to deliver the equipment during the second half of this year.
