Bar Harbor Seafood selected H. J. High Construction, a 76-year-old design-build company based in Orlando, Fla., to expand its existing 21,000-square-foot facility in Orlando with an additional 18,000 square foot.

“Bar Harbor Seafood is dedicated to delivering a full range of live, fresh and frozen seafood with a fleet of 28 trucks, and this new expansion will help us meet the growing needs of our customers,” says Jeff Hazell, founder and president of Bar Harbor Seafood, also based in Orlando, Fla. “We chose H. J. High for our project due to their specific experience in food distribution and cold storage facilities, as well as their commitment to understanding our needs and making our priorities their priorities.”

The new addition will feature a 0° freezer, a 40° cold dock, a vestibule, receiving office and two state-of-the-art large live lobster float tanks in a separate holding room. Construction will include a continuous concrete foundation, concrete stem wall, slab on grade and pre-engineered metal building structure with insulated wall panels and standing seam roof. The design-build project, designed by Orlando architect Anthony L. Lepore, will also include four new dock pits/levelers with insulated doors. Sitework includes 41 parking spaces, trucking area with heavy-duty concrete and asphalt pavement and new site lighting.

Bar Harbor Seafood will remain operational during the entire course of construction, which is expected to take six months to complete.
