Fruit2day drinkable fruit snacks

Although it already comes in its own - often edible -  natural packaging, fruit still is not the most convenient food. In fact, the Produce for Better Health Foundation says 90 percent of Americans don’t eat the recommended four servings of fruit each day.Approaching that problem as a new product opportunity is Hero/WhiteWave LLC, a 50-50 joint venture between Switzerland’s Hero Group and Dean Foods’ WhiteWave Foods division in Broomfield, Colo.

Hero/WhiteWave has introduced Fruit2day, a bottled, drinkable and edible fruit snack with real fruit bits. The company says each 6.75-ounce bottle contains real fruit pieces, fruit puree and fruit juice with no added sugar or preservatives. Moreover each bottle contains two servings of fruit and 110 to 120 calories, depending on the flavor variety.“Fruit2day is a new way to eat and enjoy fruit,” says Lisa Drayer, a registered dietitian, health reporter and Fruit2day spokesperson. “It’s a well-portioned, all-natural snack packed with two servings of fruit in each bottle. Fruit2day makes getting more fruit in your diet easier to add to any daily snack routine, whether you’re working out, on the go, or just need a nutrition boost in between meals.”

Designed for produce aisle merchandising, Fruit2day comes in four varieties: Strawberry Orange, Mango Peach, Pineapple Banana and Cherry Grape. Hero/WhiteWave is distributing the product nationwide with two-packs carrying a suggested retail of $3.79.“The desire to get more fruit in your diet is universal whether you’re in Europe or the U.S. - especially to the growing number of health-minded consumers,” says Hanno Holm, Hero/WhiteWave president and CEO. “Fruit2day is a true innovation. It’s a new way to eat and enjoy fruit and - based on our success in Europe and consumer research results in the U.S. - we’re looking forward to its growth in America.”
