Farmland Foods, Kansas City, Mo., says its new Farmland Bone-In Net-Weight Ham Steak is perfect  for an on-the-go consumer who wants a convenient meal without leftovers, waste or hassle-filled preparation.

Moreover, this new offering represents "an ideal entrée for breakfast, lunch or dinner," the company says.

Officials describe say the steak has been smoked with real hickory wood, for an authentic smokehouse flavor, and has a special Farmland cure for a balance of smoky and sweet tastes.  Bone-in gives the steak a great presentation on the plate at home, and makes for a dramatic showing on the shelf.

The UPC, net-weight package features two consistently sliced 6-oz. steaks.

"A lot of foods that were traditionally thought of as ‘for breakfast’ are now being consumed across all meal times," said Bert Lawson, manager of the Farmland Foods Test Kitchen. “According to recent research by the NPD Group, family style restaurants serve over 44 percent of their breakfast items outside of the usual morning dining period.

"Consumers are doing the same thing at home, and that’s why an item like a Bone-In Ham Steak – long a staple of a hearty breakfast – is so appealing for lunch and dinner.  It’s great looking and has a really nice, smoky flavor profile that goes great with eggs or greens.  Plus, it’s convenient and very easy to prepare.”

Farmland Bone-In Net-Weight Ham Steak available in 20 (2-pc) packages per 15 lb case.
