Newly Weds Foods Builds Manufacturing Plant in KY

After an extensive search, Chicago-based Newly Weds Foods, Inc. selected Erlanger, Ky., as the location for its next North American manufacturing plant. The new Newly Weds Foods325,000-plus-square feet facility will employ more than 100 workers when in full operation. Production lines will initially include sheeted breaders, Japanese- and American-style bread crumbs, as well as blending capabilities for food coating systems. It will also house a complete research and development lab.

“This new plant represents Newly Weds Foods’ 13th facility in the U.S. and 26th in total,” says Charles Angell, president. “It also reflects the continued growth of the company and an ongoing demand for products that help our customers add value to theirs. This addition to the Newly Weds Foods’ manufacturing system provides needed resources and capacity to better address current needs as well as projected future activity.”

“Boone County, located in Northern Kentucky, along with the Northern Kentucky Tri-County Economic Development Corporation (Tri-ED) and the Commonwealth of Kentucky showed a great deal of interest in having Newly Weds locate in Kentucky,” he adds. “The Northern Kentucky site is consistent with the company’s strategy to place facilities in close proximity to key customers in the interest of meeting service expectations. It also offers significant transportation options and a ready labor force. Newly Weds Foods looks forward to making a real contribution to this region’s success.”

Improvements to the existing structure will begin in April, and the plant is expected to begin production by November.
