Produce Marketing Association, Newark, Del.
Cathy Green Burns will join the association as president, effective Dec. 1, where she will focus initially on leading board and staff team development as well as lending her insight to business development activities. Green Burns is a 30-year supermarket industry veteran, during which time she’s held a host of senior-level positions starting with Hannaford Brothers and Food Lion.

International Refrigerated Transportation Association (IRTA), Alexandria, Va.
Charles Myers, general manager of Freight for uShip.com, received IRTA’s Executive of the Year Award, which recognizes an individual in the refrigerated transportation industry who has made a significant contribution by fostering innovation, resolving industry issues or improving the industry's image and efficiency. Myers was recognized for his continuous improvement and impressive track record of developing cold chain systems in international markets and improving relationships between carriers and warehouse operators.

 

PROCESSORS/RETAILERS:

Weight Watchers International, Inc., New York
James Chambers was appointed president and CEO and was elected to the company's board of directors, succeeding David Kirchhoff, who resigned to pursue other opportunities. Chambers joined Weight Watchers in January 2013, and has served as president and COO since that time. Chambers has more than 30 years of general management, cross-functional operational management and executive leadership experience in varied consumer-focused global industries.

Famous Brands International, Broomfield, Colo.
The parent company of TCBY Yogurt and Mrs. Fields Cookies appointed Michael Chao to chief financial officer, effective immediately. Previously, Chao was vice president of finance, treasury and investor relations at Vail Resorts, Inc., where he helped the company manage significant growth, substantial capital investments, expansion into new businesses and several key acquisitions. David Barr was reappointed to the board of directors. Barr currently serves as chairman of the boards of directors for Rita Restaurants LLC, and is owner and operator of Don Pablo's Mexican Restaurants.

Crunch Pak, Cashmere, Wash.
Scott Sargent was named chief executive officer, replacing John Graden, who will work with Sargent through the end of the year, then become a member of the board and continue as director of raw product purchasing. Sargent joins Crunch Pak from Chick-fil-A, where he was manager of supply chain purchasing for the 1,700-restaurant chain.

Blount Fine Foods, Fall River, Mass.
Caitlin Sewall was named retail sales manager for the Northeast. Sewall was an intern with Blount in the sales and marketing department in 2012.

Campbell Soup Co., Camden, N.J.
Ed Carolan was named president, U.S. retail, responsible for the company’s $3.5 billion U.S. soup, sauces and beverages business. Carolan joined Campbell in 2001, leading Campbell’s core U.S. soup and simple meals business and delivering four consecutive quarters of growth in U.S. soup. Tim Hassett was appointed senior vice president and general manager, away from home, and chief customer officer of Campbell North America, responsible for leading Campbell’s North America foodservice business and its retail fresh soups and sauces business. He is also responsible for expanding the availability of Campbell’s products in the immediate consumption and e-commerce channels, and will bring together sales teams to build strategic joint business plans with Campbell's customers in a unified fashion. He joined Campbell in 2004, most recently serving as senior vice president, sales of Campbell North America.

 

FOODSERVICE:

El Pollo Loco, Costa Mesa, Calif.
Restaurant industry veteran Kay Bogeajis joined the company as chief operating officer, responsible for overseeing company and franchise restaurant operations, training and development and for leading operations initiatives with the goals of improving efficiency and driving profitable growth.

Papa John's International, Inc., Louisville, N.Y.
Tony Thompson was named president and chief operating officer, responsible for leading the company's global operations as well as the operations of PJ Food Service, Inc., Papa John's food manufacturing and distribution subsidiary. Thompson is also in charge of the R&D/quality assurance, development, marketing and information systems functions.

Integrated Systems Design, Wixom, Mich.
Dave Halker was named senior executive of logistics automation. Halker has worked on state-of-the-art projects for leading organizations such as Barnes & Noble, USPS Philatelic Center, American Greetings and VA-CMOP (Central Mail Out Pharmacy).

Henningsen Cold Storage, Hillsboro, Ore.
Christopher Henningsen will assume responsibilities of the newly created position vice president, information services. Previously, Henningsen was vice president, warehouse operations, where he was responsible for daily warehouse operations and management teams of each of the company’s facilities. He also spearheaded a winning information technology department that continually receives accolades from both our internal and external customers. Todd Larson was promoted to vice president, warehouse operations. Larson joined Henningsen in 2008 as regional manager for the Northeast, and then was given additional responsibility for Henningsen Transportation Services. He also assumed responsibility for the company’s Oregon operations, along with Henningsen Wine Services.

Choptank Transport, Preston, Md.
Steve Covey was promoted to executive vice president, responsible for overseeing all aspects of Choptank’s sales and operations functions with an emphasis on strategic planning and growth initiatives. Dave Regulski was promoted to vice president of business development, with a focus on continued development of the company’s outside offices with an emphasis on cold starts, supervising staffing, sales and operations.

Cashco, Ellsworth, Kan.
Darrin Vanderbilt was named engineering services manager, responsible for all aspects of product certification, including existing quality standards, as well as new types of certification.

GEA Refrigeration Technologies, York, Pa.
John Ansbro joined the 4-member board of top management as new chief technology officer, succeeding Guido Beyss, who left the company. Ansbro will be responsible for production and development activities of the GEA segment for refrigeration technology worldwide. His assignments will include coordination among the technology centers, as well as the creation of synergism in development of new products.

Label Technology Inc., Merced, Calif.
Mark Hines was appointed to the newly created position of business development director, responsible for working with the existing sales and marketing team to develop new business opportunities for Label Technology product lines throughout North America. Hines brings more than 25 years of printing industry and leadership experience to this role.

SSP America, Lansdowne, Va.
Jagpreet Singh joins as general counsel, responsible for overseeing the company's legal, policy, compliance and regulatory affairs. With more than 15 years of commercial legal experience, Singh came from Venable LLP, where he served as a partner to the firm's corporate group, providing counsel on all aspects of corporate and commercial activity.

Akro-Mils, a Myers Industries, Inc. company, Akron, Ohio
Jason Kelley was named plant manager for the Sandusky, Ohio, facility. Prior to joining Akro-Mils, Kelley was director of operations and lean manager at Tranter, Inc., and has held several management positions at Rain Bird Corp.

Robert (Bob) Keith, founder of Affiliated Paper Cos. and what is now AFFLINK, LLC, passed away on July 31. As a leader in the industry for years, Keith was active in many industrial national and international product groups. In 1988, he received the Stanley O Styles Industry Award from the National Paper Trade Association.
