HIGH-PROTEIN GREEK FROZEN YOGURT

Turkey Hill Dairy, Lancaster County, Pa., added four new limited-edition flavors to its Greek frozen yogurt portfolio. The line expansion includes Baklava, Lemoni Biskoti, Raspberry Chokolata and Sea Salt Caramel Truffle. The lineup consists of low-fat frozen yogurt with 67% more protein than Turkey Hill’s regular frozen yogurt.

 

“WHOLESOME GOAT” SPREAD

Woolwich Dairy, Lancaster, Wis., debuted its “Wholesome Goat” Fresh Chèvre line of spreads. Lower in sodium and free of fat, fillers and preservatives, Fresh Chèvrecomes in Plain ‘N’ Simple and Big Kick Herb & Garlic varieties. Each starts with a base of Woolwich Dairy’s ultra fresh goat’s milk, then blended to a light, soft and spreadable consistency. Dubbed a healthier, creamier alternative to cream cheese, Fresh Chèvre can be used as a dip or spread, mixed into dressings and sauces, or tossed with hot pasta. Each 8-ounce recyclable tub has a suggested retail price of $5.99.

  

INNOVATIVE RACLETTE VARIETIES

Emmi Roth USA, Monroe, Wis., introduced three new varieties to its Roth raclette lineup—Mediterranean, Five Peppercorn and Roasted Garlic. These bold options incorporate ingredients such as garlic, peppercorns and sun-dried tomatoes.

 

LESS TART GREEK YOGURT

Tillamook, Tillamook, Ore., released Farmstyle Greek Yogurt, a new line of authentically strained Greek yogurt, featuring Coffeehouse Blend, Honey Peach, Cinnamon Hazelnut and Oregon Strawberry varieties. Made with no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners and no high-fructose corn syrup, Farmstyle Greek is a thick, creamy and less tart yogurt made with buttermilk cultures that provide 14 grams of protein per serving. Also, it’s produced from the highest quality milk from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones. Tillamook Farmstyle Greek can be found in the yogurt aisle at major retailers across the West in 5.3-ounce cups for a suggested retail price of $1.25.

 

CREAMY ICE CREAM BARS

Tillamook also entered the super premium novelty category with new Tillabars. Developed using a double-scoop process that includes two flavors of ice cream or sorbet in one bar, Tillabars come in Lemonilla, Old-Fashioned Vanilla, Salted Caramel Swirl and Mooocha Latte. They are available nationwide with a suggested retail price of $4.99.

 

MEDITERRANEAN YOGURT SPREADS

Karoun Dairies, Turlock, Calif., livens up the yogurt and cream cheese category with Blue Isle Mediterranean Yogurt Spreads and Greek Style Honey Yogurts. Both are free from growth hormones, are OU kosher and Real California Milk-certified and are rich in calcium, low in sodium and contain live and active yogurt and probiotic cultures. They come in Original, Honey, Blueberry, French Onion and Spicy Vegetable varieties.

 

36-MONTH AGED PARMESAN CHEESE

In honor of Sartori’s 75th Anniversary, the Plymouth, Wis., artisan cheese producer released a special Family Heirloom 36-month aged Parmesan cheese, featuring a fruity, caramelized nutty flavor. This cheese can be found at specialty cheese shops throughout the United States for a limited time in 2014.

 

MOOSE TRACKS ENTERS FROZEN NOVELTY CATEGORY

Wayland, Mich.-based Denali Flavors, developer of the Moose Tracks brand of ice cream, entered a new grocery category with the introduction of four new ice cream novelty products. The new ice cream novelties include Original ice cream sandwiches and ice cream bars, Triple Chocolate ice cream barsand Caramel Caribou ice cream bars. Moose Tracks and Caramel Caribou ice cream bars and sandwiches are available at Meijer and other select retailers with suggested retail prices ranging from $2.99-$3.99 per package of four for ice cream sandwiches and package of three for ice cream bars.

 

FROZEN GREEK YOGURT BARS

Boston-based Yasso introduced five new varieties to its line of frozen Greek yogurt bars—Peanut Butter Cup, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Fudge, Dark Chocolate Raspberry and Sea Salt Caramel. They’re available at select club stores for a suggested retail price of $4.99-$5.49 for a 12-fluid-ounce box of four.

 

PROTEIN-RICH CREAM CHEESE

Kraft Foods, Northfield, Ill., expanded its PHILADELPHIA line of cream cheese with PHILADELPHIA 2X protein cream cheese spread, which is said to offer twice as much protein (4 grams vs. 2 grams per serving) as regular cream cheese spread and 70% less fat and calories (per serving) than the leading peanut butter. Now available in Regular and Honey varieties, PHILADELPHIA 2X Protein can be found in the refrigerated section of retail grocers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $2.99 for a 7-ounce tub.

 

SLICED CHEESE FREE OF ARTIFICIAL PRESERVATIVES

Kraft also launched KRAFT Singles with No Artificial Preservatives, a renovation that removes artificial ingredients, while still delivering the same quality, taste, look and melt its consumers expect. Available now in the dairy aisle of leading grocery stores nationwide, these new Kraft Singles come in American and White American varieties and provide an excellent source of calcium and are a good source of vitamin D.

 

LOW-FAT GREEK YOGURT FOR KIDS

The Dannon Co., White Plains, N.Y., introduced Danimals Superstars, a line of low-fat Greek yogurt for kids. Available in Cherry Rush, Cotton Candy Thrill, Mixed Berry Half-Pipe, Strawberry Banana Sprint and Strawberry Slide varieties, each 4-ounce cup is said to provide 10 grams of protein and boast as a good source of calcium and vitamin D. These 4-count packages can be found in the dairy aisle of retail grocers natonwide.

 

ICE CREAM’S “CORE”

Ben & Jerry’s, Inc., Burlington, Va., introduced a new line of ice cream that features a core center down the middle of two different flavors. New offerings include:

Hazed & Confused:Chocolate and hazelnut ice creams with fudge chips and a hazelnut fudge core.

That’s My Jam:Raspberry and chocolate ice creams with fudge chips and a raspberry core.

Peanut Butter Fudge:Chocolate and peanut butter ice creams with mini peanut butter cups and a peanut butter fudge core.

Salted Caramel:Sweet cream ice cream with Blonde brownies and a salty caramel core.

Each flavor comes in pints for a suggested retail price of $4.39.

 

YOGURT ALTERNATIVE

 Australia-based COYO introduced the COYO brand to the United States. Made with coconut “cream” rather than milk and water, this coconut yogurt alternative features a slightly thick texture, somewhat akin to Greek yogurt, but is 100% dairy-, gluten-, soy- and egg-free. It comes in Natural, Mango, Mixed Berry and Chocolate flavors. And, each 5.3-ounce container contains the fresh squeezed cream of one whole coconut.
