United States Cold Storage (USCS), Voorhees, N.J., announced plans to build a second cold storage and logistics facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The state-of-the-art, multi-temp facility will supply Salt Lake City, Boise and Denver as well as other major markets in the West alongside its original 1.8 million-cubic-foot US Cold Storage SLC inbodyrefrigerated warehouse.

The site is expected to be completed fall 2014. It will feature 4.9 million cubic feet of refrigerated storage and another 1 million cubic feet of dry storage. This flexible facility will accommodate products in four distinct freezer, refrigerated and dry storage areas.

USCS Salt Lake will also feature refrigerated and dry rail service, more than 20 dock doors (including 18 refrigerated) and cross-dock transportation services. Its operations will include a state-of-the-art CO2 refrigeration system as well as future capacity for low-temp blast freezing.

USCS Salt Lake is located within one day of Denver, Reno, Nev., and Boise, Idaho. It is located near Interstate Highways I-15 and I-84 and just 25 miles north of I-80, the major East-West lane connecting the West coast.
