Global Cold Chain Alliance, Alexandria, Va.
The International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW) and the World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO) elected Tom Poe, president of Crystal Distribution Services, as IARW chairman 2014-2015. Other new IARW officers elected for the coming year were vice chairman Angelo Antoci (U.S. Growers Cold Storage) and treasurer Eben James (Trenton Cold Storage). New directors-at-large members elected to serve 3-year terms include Doug Harrison (VersaCold Logistics Services) and Andy Janson (Hanson Logistics). Dan Coury, Jr. (Mesa Cold Storage) was elected to represent the South Pacific Chapter, and Randy Scarpero (New Orleans Cold Storage) was elected to represent the Southeastern Chapter. Meanwhile, Frank Plant, president, Harborside Refrigerated Services, was elected as the 2014-2015 chairman of the WFLO board of governors. Other new WFLO officers elected were vice chairman Greg Brandt (Nor-Am Cold Storage) and treasurer Fabio Fonseca (Friozem Armazens Frigorificos). New board members elected to serve 3-year terms include Neal Rider (Agro Merchants Group), Dan Kaplan (Cloverleaf Cold Storage), Hans Kroes (Kloosterboer) and Mike Pokel (Midwest Refrigerated Services). Board members re-elected to 3-year terms on the WFLO board include Don Dick (Dick Cold Storage), Arne Martinsen (Transmar Ltd.) and Kirk Robertson (Terra Vista Capital).

American Transportation Research Institute, Arlington, Va.
Annette Sandberg, chief executive officer of TransSafe Consulting, was appointed to the board of directors. Sandberg previously served as administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration following her nomination by President George W. Bush and confirmation by the Senate. Sandberg also served as deputy administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and as chief of the Washington State Patrol, where she was the first woman to lead a state police agency.

Butterball, Inc., Garner, N.C.
Jay Jandrain was named executive vice president of sales, while Bill Klump was appointed chief marketing officer, effective May 19, succeeding Kerry Doughty, who was recently named president and CEO. Jandrain will be responsible for sales in the food ervice, retail and export channels as well as product research and development, customer service and integrated business strategy. As CMO, Klump will be responsible for overall brand strategy, consumer communication and public relations. In addition, Klump will continue his role in driving brand advertising, consumer promotion, product innovation and consumer insights for consumer packaged goods, deli and seasonal products. Jandrain joined Butterball in May 2002 as the director of product research and development. Klump boasts more than 30 years of consumer packaged goods experience with Sara Lee, ConAgra Foods and Chiquita Brands.

Sandridge Food Corp., Medina, Ohio
Matthew Harris joined as vice president of global supply chain, responsible for optimizing internal and external key functions such as alignment of strategic partnerships and procurement processes, including product assortment, supplier selection and inbound costing. Harris maintains a 15-year track record of leadership and expertise in category management and finance roles within the foodservice industry.

Dole Food Co., Westlake Village, Calif.
Howard Roeder was promoted to president of Dole Fresh Vegetables, replacing Ray De Riggi, who is retiring. Cynthia Nunes and Todd Camel were promoted to vice president and co-general manager of Fresh Fruit North America, replacing Michael Cavallero who is retiring. Meanwhile, John Trummel was named vice president and general manager of Dole Ocean Cargo Express.

 

FOODSERVICE:

Corner Bakery Café, Dallas, Texas
Franchise and restaurant veteran Michael Nolan was appointed executive vice president and chief development officer, responsible for overseeing the company's rapidly-growing franchise development program and target market strategy. Nolan brings more than 25 years of leadership experience to his new post, including executive management positions with Panera Bread Co. and Bloomin' Brands, Inc., among other restaurant chains. In addition, brand veteran Blake Bernet was promoted to chief legal officer. Bernet joined Corner Bakery in 1996 and was previously general counsel and senior vice president of development.

El Pollo Loco, Costa Mesa, Calif.
Dale Burke was appointed vice president, supply chain management, responsible for overseeing the total cost of goods and managing non-cost-of-goods spend categories, such as supplies, uniforms and natural gas. Burke comes to the fire-grilled chicken restaurant chain with more than 20 years of experience creating supply chain efficiencies, managing commodity prices and mitigating risk for a variety of leading brands, including Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.

Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc., Canton, Mass.
The parent company of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins appointed Irene Chang Britt to the board of directors. Chang Britt has held leadership positions with several of the foremost brands in the foodservice and consumer packaged goods industry, including her current position of president, Pepperidge Farm, a subsidiary of Campbell Soup Co. Chang Britt formerly served on the board of Sunoco, Inc., and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Catalyst, Inc.

Taco Bell Corp., a division of Yum! Brands, Inc., Irvine, Calif.
Brian Niccol will be promoted to chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1, 2015, taking over for Greg Creed, who will become CEO of Yum! Brands, Inc., effective the same date. In this role, Niccol will be responsible for driving overall brand strategy and performance of the business in the United States and internationally, including doubling system sales for the 10-year period ending 2022 and opening 2,000 new restaurants. Niccol previously served as president of Taco Bell U.S., and prior to that as chief marketing and innovation officer for a leading Mexican-inspired quick-service restaurant brand.

Cashco, Inc., Ellsworth, Kan.
Joshua Rikoff was promoted to assistant product manager, responsible for a lot of the design work, dealing with quality issues in the factory and answering questions if his supervisor isn’t available. A Cashco employee since June 2012, Rikoff previously served as a mechanical designer in the engineering department.

Bunting Magnetics Co., Newton, Kan.
Jeffrey "Scott" Smith was named supply chain manager, responsible for global sourcing and supply management. Scott Smith maintains a 30-plus-year membership with the Institute for Supply Management, where he is active at local, regional and national levels.

enVista, Indianapolis, Ind.
Supply chain veteran Dave Mott joined as the company’s supply chain solutions practice as a director within its workforce management team. Mott brings more than 20 years of supply chain expertise, including labor management, application product management, IT services, distribution center operations management and sales. Most recently, Mott served as the director of product strategy for HighJump Software. Prior to that, he served as the general manager of delivery distribution center operations for Best Buy and as a director of workforce management for RedPrairie Corp.

Thomas Giacomini, president and CEO, was elected chairman, replacing Charles Cannon, Jr., who retired as executive chairman on May 13.
