Barber Foods, Portland, Maine, celebrated 60 years of business by refreshing its line of stuffed chicken breasts.

The company’s flagship product boasts a new homestyle breading and added, flavorful fillings, available in 16 varieties, including Cordon Bleu, Broccoli & Cheese, Kiev, Scallop & Lobster Stuffing, Crème Brie & Apple and Seasoned Mushroom & Swiss.

The 5-ounce stuffed chicken breasts underwent an ingredient review and are being produced using new techniques designed to deliver a more flavorful breast of chicken. The stuffed chicken entrées are sold either raw or fully cooked.

“With Barber commanding nearly 70% of the frozen stuffed chicken breast market, we challenged ourselves ‘Why mess with a good thing?’” says David Barber, senior consultant for Barber Foods, which was acquired by AdvancePierre Foods in June 2011. “We wanted to remain ‘true’ to our loyal customers, yet recognize that innovation is the cornerstone of Barber.”

The brand collaborated with customers and conducted extensive product testing during an 8-month research and development phase. It also refreshed its visual identity with a new logo and package redesign.

Barber Foods’ stuffed chicken breasts are available in 2- and 6-pack varieties in retail grocery, club and foodservice channels nationwide.
