San Francisco-based Flexport will open the doors to its first warehouse Aug. 1 near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The warehouse will allow the cloud-based logistics provider to offer a wider range of services like a traditional forwarder.

Flexport’s software allows shippers to arrange transportation, clear customs and arrange other services via a website. The 100,000-square-foot facility in Buena Park, Calif., along with others planned in Hong Kong and mainland China, will allow Flexport to handle customers’ cargo directly.

Flexport is also opening offices in Atlanta, where sales and operations staff will assist the company’s small and medium-size customers.
