Preferred Freezer Services (PFS), Chatham, N.J., broke ground on its Kearny, N.J., facility, which will be the company’s ninth in the New Jersey area and its 38th the United States.

The Kearny facility will satisfy demand for modern and efficient cold storage warehousing services exceeding reach to the Northern New Jersey and Manhattan markets, with access to the George Washington Bridge and Lincoln Tunnel and easy on/off Turnpike access.

The new facility, scheduled to open in the summer of 2018, will be located where I-95 and Interstate 280 meet, with proximity to exit 15W.

The 190,000-square-foot site will feature a storage capacity near 30,000 pallets, 24 dock doors and a full on-site generator backup.

The facility will also offer USDA import and export capability, and a multi-purpose room for additional value-added services.
