Sharratt Warehousing and Distribution (SW&D), Jefferson, Wis., tapped ESI Group USA, Hartland, Wis., to design-build a 100,000-square-foot cold storage and logistics food distribution center within the Reedsburg South Industrial TID Park South-Central Wisconsin.

The 14.9-acre site maintains ideal proximity to Interstate Highways 39, 90, and 94 as well as existing infrastructure to the Northwest and Southern Railroad.

SW&D will be owned and operated by Richard and Dianne Sharratt, who maintain 40-plus years in the public refrigerated warehouse business. Previously, they’ve co-founded, developed and operated more than 750,000 square feet of refrigerated space in the Midwest.

“ESI is pleased to partner with SW&D to expand warehousing in our home state of Wisconsin,” says Brad Barke, president of ESI Group. “We understand first-hand how important it is to provide quality facilities for our clients to produce quality products that will ensure their businesses thrive. This new facility will utilize the most energy efficient systems available, and be a great addition to the Reedsburg area for years to come.”

Design elements include:

  • State-of-the-art ammonia refrigeration system.
  • Convertible rooms of -10°F to 40°F.
  • Insulated metal panels at warehouse/process areas.
  • LED lighting systems.
  • Continuous pit-style with vertical storing levers for energy savings.
  • 8 truck dock and 4 rail dock positions.
  • USDA food grading room.
