Finagle a Bagel frozen bagels

October 23, 2009

It's the bagel shop experience --  now with freezercase convenience. That's how Finagle a Bagel, a Newton, Mass., retail bakery cafe operator -- describes its new line of Finagle a Bagel frozen retail bagels.

"The freezer sections of grocery stores don't always carry the same quality of bagel that consumers find in bakeries. We wanted to provide a true hand-boiled and baked bagel to our guests who were not able to get to our retail stores," says Finagle President Laura Trust. "We make every Finagle a Bagel bagel by hand --  the same recipes, doughs and methods as the bagels we make in our 12 bakery/cafes throughout Boston and Metro Boston."

Officials say the new line is available in Giant Food Stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Moreover, the frozen bagels will soon be available in over 350 Stop & Shop supermarkets in the Northeast, with additional chains adding the new product line to their freezer aisles in January.

Trust says the 4-ounce frozen bagels use same recipe and method of kettle-boiling and hand-baking that Finagle a Bagel employs in its retail locations. Finagle currently supplies fresh bagels in the bakery bins of many area supermarkets' bakery departments. The new frozen branded Finagle a Bagel bagels come in six varieties: Plain, Egg, Cinnamon Raisin, Onion and 100% Whole Wheat.

SJB Bagel Makers of Boston, Inc., Newton, Mass., is the dough maker, bagel bakery and sales side of Finagle's business. Finagle a Bagel cafes offer a wide selection of bagels, fresh prepared sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, flatbread pizzas and other casual dining fare.
