Meat & Poultry Briefs: Butterball's new HQ; Pilgrim's cuts in Ark.
Turkey processor Butterball LLC plans next Thursday, Oct. 2, to officially open its new corporate headquarters in Garner, N.C., near Raleigh. The event will feature Butterball CEO Keith Shoemaker, North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler and Garner Mayor Ronnie Williams. . . . The Associated Press (AP) reported that Pilgrim's Pride Corp., Pittsburg, Texas, is eliminating 100 more jobs at the company's El Dorado, Ark., facility, a location that lost 600 positions in July. AP quoted Pilgrim's spokesman Ray Atkinson, who said the company will consolidate the plant's tray-pack chicken operations into other plants. The 100 positions will be eliminated from El Dorado's eviscerating line, effective Nov. 21.
