Gifford’s Ice Cream started making ice cream again at its Skowhegan, Maine, plant for the first time after a fire ripped through production facilities, forcing them to rely on co-packers.

Kraft Heinz will use the funds to install a range of technologies, including heat pumps, electric heaters, electric boilers, anaerobic digestors, biogas boilers, solar thermal, solar photovoltaic and thermal energy storage.
The proposed project would cut 14,000 metric tons of carbon emissions per year, a major step in moving toward carbon neutrality for the factories that produce Ben & Jerry’s, Talenti, Magnum, Breyers and other leading brands.
ORBIS expects to add more than 190 employees within two years of the lease commencement in order to support operations at the new plant, which is expected to begin operations by the end of the year.
