The United States Potato Board (USPB), Denver, launched “Fresh Ideas for Frozen Innovation,” a new guide for developing frozen meals with potatoes.
The new micro site, www.innovation.potatogoodness.com, addresses common concerns regarding the use of potatoes in frozen meals, including the misconception that potatoes don’t fit in a healthful frozen meal. The micro site provides consumer research that showcases potatoes as a vegetable, therefore they are considered healthier than other starches. In fact, according to the new USDA MyPlate recommendations, potatoes fit squarely on the quarter for the plate reserved for vegetables, helping food manufacturers meet consumer guidelines for healthy eating.
Additionally, the USPB used this research to test six healthful, globally inspired and contemporary-creative concepts to provide consumer insights to be applied to individual development.
This e-guide is the first step in addressing innovation concerns and proving that there’s more to potatoes than meets the eye.
