National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association elects new officers, and more personnel news

National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA), Harrisburg, Pa. John Farmer, sales director, Dairy Farmers of America, was elected chairman of the board. Farmer has served on the board of directors since 2003. He served as secretary from 2015-2016 and chairman-elect from 2016-2017. Farmer is also a member of the Honorable Order of Golden Penguins. Other officers sworn in were Dave Jones, vice president industry initiatives for Kellogg Co., as chairman-elect; Joe D’Alberto, director frozen/dairy, Harris Teeter team at Acosta Sales & Marketing, as secretary; Ray Tarnowski, president of Philadelphia Warehouse & Cold Storage, as treasurer; Neil Ritchey, senior vice president, sales, shopper marketing and customer care for Ajinomoto Windsor, as vice chairman-frozen; and Bob Knodle, vice president of sales for H.P. Hood, as vice chairman-refrigerated. Newly elected to the board of directors were John Arnold, director of sales services for Sargento Foods; Bob Bollbach, vice president of frozen at RDD Associates; Tony Hatok; senior director of frozen and dairy merchandising for Giant Eagle; Mark Harvey, executive director, category sales at Associated Wholesale Grocers; Kathy Hayden, vice president, customer business solutions, DanoneWave; Jim Motos, vice president, consumer brands division, Rich’s Consumer Brands; and Ron Slominski, senior director of customer marketing for Schwan’s Consumer Brands. Elected for a second term on the board of directors were Scott Anderson, chief executive officer of Alliance Sales & Marketing; Diana Curtis, associate frozen buyer, Grocery Outlet; Dave Howlett, vice president at Wakefern Food Corp.; Mike Ridenour, head of industry relations and sales operations Kraft Heinz Food Group; Chris Scheid, director, West customer teams, Land O’Lakes; and Joe Tuza, senior vice president - retail marketing, sales, R&D and innovation, T. Marzetti Co.
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCALMR), Australia
Dr. David Agnew was appointed executive secretary, effective February 2018. Agnew has been the science and standards director for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) since 2011, where he helped establish MSC’s position as a credible and recognized standard for wild-caught seafood. Notably, Agnew led revisions of the Fishery and Chain of Custody Standards, the development of impacts research and the publication of the Global Impacts Reports series and the implementation of the Peer Review College.
