Sixty South salmon brand builds sustainable seafood hatchery
This state-of-the-art, 4-stage facility will enable Sixty South to produce 12 million smolts of 120 grams per year, or 3 million every quarter.
Nova Austral’s Sixty South Antarctic salmon brand announced plans to build a new hatchery 45 kilometers north of Porvenir, Tierra del Fuego.
This state-of-the-art, 4-stage facility will enable Sixty South to produce 12 million smolts of 120 grams per year, or 3 million every quarter. What's unique is the indoor facilities ensure control over the entire production process, and grow fish without any antibiotics and in the purest, most natural and clean conditions possible. The hatchery also boasts sophisticated monitoring and water quality control systems and strong bio-security, thus reducing the risk of water contamination. The location also enables short transportation time from hatchery to farm.
