Dairy Crest CEO steps down following Saputo acquisition, US Foods hires chief supply chain officer, Walmart appoints global food safety compliance exec and more personnel news

Timothy Connolly will join as executive vice president and chief supply chain officer, effective May 13, overseeing the company’s supply chain organization, including safety, warehousing, transportation, supply chain strategy, operations, continuous improvement and labor relations. Most recently, Connolly served as senior vice president of operations at Uline, and prior to that, was chief operating officer at Essendant, where he oversaw a network of more than 70 distribution centers. He also spent 10 years managing supply chain operations at Cardinal Health.
Saputo Inc., Canada Mark Allen is stepping down as chief executive of Dairy Crest, following the acquisition. As such, Tom Atherton, deputy chief executive and group finance director of Dairy Crest, was appointed president and COO of Saputo’s dairy division (UK), effective immediately. Atherton has worked for Dairy Crest since 2005. He was appointed executive director and group finance director in 2013, and has served as deputy chief executive since January 2018, where he’s been instrumental in determining the strategic direction of Dairy Crest. Previously, Atherton held senior management positions within publicly-listed companies in the United Kingdom.
