CHEP, an Atlanta-based Brambles company, announced a new initiative called Zero Waste World, which brings together leading retailers and manufacturers to create smarter and more sustainable supply chains.
CHEP, Livonia, Mich., introduced 40x24-inch pooled (shared and re-used), carbon-neutral half pallets, making them what is said to be the first and only CarbonNeutral-certified pooled platform in North America.
Since the recycling of wooden waste began, more than 2,000 tons of plant racks have been transported to recycling facilities.

Working closely with operation managers at Walmart's 400 Canadian stores, CHEP, Livonia, Mich., developed a reverse logistics and waste diversion solution to quickly and efficiently move all the excess racks to a recycling facility.
The recommendations are based on an extensive, year-long analysis predicated on dozens of interviews with industry experts conducted by CHEP for the TPA Joint Industry Unsaleables Leadership Team.
