The Kroger Co., Cincinnati, said it promotedJeffrey D. Burt to group vice president of perishables merchandising and procurement. Burt, 48, previously served as vice president of deli/bakery merchandising and procurement, a position he held since 2004. He previously held leadership roles at QFC, a Kroger division based in Seattle.
"Jeff is an excellent merchandiser with a deep understanding of our customers' preferences in the perishable departments," said Rodney McMullen, Kroger president and chief operating officer. "His experience and leadership will help guide the growth of our important produce, meat, seafood, deli and bakery offerings."
Kroger says it is the nation's largest traditional grocery retailer with more than 334,000 associates in 2,468 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two dozen local banner names. Kroger retail outlets include Kroger, City Market, Dillons, Jay C, Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry's, King Soopers, QFC, Ralphs and Smith's.
