ARCO National Construction’s Kansas City division, has announced its partnership with Mies Family Foods to build a new, state-of-the-art 78,664-square-foot cold storage facility in Kansas City, Kansas. As a leading wholesale distributor of fresh and frozen beef, pork, poultry and additional food products, Mies Family Foods is expanding its operations to meet increasing demand while significantly upgrading its distribution capabilities. The new facility will more than triple the company's current capacity.

Located at 6036 Speaker Road, Kansas City, Kansas, 66111, the facility will offer easy access to Interstate 70 and Interstate 635, enabling the company to reach customers efficiently.

The Kansas City region continues to be a prime market for cold storage development due to its central location in the nation’s agricultural heartland and ability to reach approximately 80% of the U.S. in just two days.

“ARCO is partnering with a growing number of companies like Mies Family Foods, as the location benefits of the Kansas City region combined with the resiliency of the food and beverage industry continue to drive demand for cold storage space,” said Sam Stahnke, vice president for ARCO National Construction in Kansas City. “We are thrilled to partner with Mies Family Foods on this significant expansion of their growing business and look forward to the project’s successful completion.”

The state-of-the-art facility will feature a 41,000-square-foot 0° degree Fahrenheit freezer, a 13,500-square-foot, 38 degree Fahrenheit cold dock, and an 8,000-square-foot 36° degree Fahrenheit cooler. Additional facility features include insulated tilt-up construction with insulated metal panels in the freezer and cold dock spaces, 32-foot clear height, 10 cold dock positions and one drive-in ramp.

"We are excited about the growth of Mies Family Foods and the expansion into our new facility,” said Ryan Hamm, vice president, Mies Family Foods. “This new facility marks an exciting milestone for Paul Mies and the Mies family.  It wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from our loyal customers, vendors and exceptional team at Mies Family Foods.  ARCO’s collaboration has been instrumental in making this vision a reality. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community with even greater capacity and dedication in the years ahead."

The project will relocate Mies Family Foods’ operations and current employees from North Kansas City, Missouri to Kansas City, Kansas. The new facility is expected to generate 15 additional jobs over the next three years.
