ARCO National Construction’s Southern California division, located in Irvine, California, recently completed a 116,766-square-foot cold storage facility renovation project for Alpine Foods Distributing, Inc., a growing West Coast food redistributor. 

Located in Vernon, where 75 new jobs are expected to be created, the facility strategically situates the company’s regional division, Alpine Foods California, in the local market, enhancing its ability to meet the heightened demand for its superior service and fulfillment levels, particularly in the Southwest.

Key features of the facility include a trans critical CO2 refrigeration system, over 40,000 square feet of freezer and cooler space, including nearly 10,000 square feet of convertible space capable of accommodating temperatures ranging from -10 degrees Fahrenheit to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and a 2,455-square-foot production cooler dedicated to produce processing and volume addition. Additionally, the facility includes more than 50,000 square feet of ambient storage. 

The project consolidated and expanded Alpine Foods’ processing and handling business, increasing production and availability to support rising consumer, restaurant, and business needs in the Southern California market and beyond.
