The Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reported that Schwan Food Company Chairman Alfred Schwan plans to retire effective Dec. 31, 2008. Schwan, 83, joined the company in 1964 and helped establish the company's pizza business. He also served as president and CEO for five years after his brother, company founder Marvin Schwan, died in 1993. Schwan Food Company officials reportedly will name a successor in early 2009.
