COLD PACKAGING BRIEFS
Graphic Packaging Holding Company, Marietta, Ga., said it will issue 47.0 million shares of public stock to (1) repurchase 6.5 million shares of common stock held by the Grover C. Coors Trust; and (2) finance a $53.5 million deal for the assets of Sierra Pacific Packaging, Inc., an Oroville, Calif., producer of folding cartons, beverage carriers and corrugated boxes.
Phoenix Packaging Operations, LLC, Hallandale, Fla., opened a $25 million plastic packaging plant in Dublin, Va. Officials say the operation houses extrusion, thermoforming, printing and barrier packaging operations and will supply the food industry, particularly in dairy and coffee sectors. A subsidiary of Columbia's Grupo Phoenix, Phoenix Packaging supplies dairy and food containers as well as lids and shrink sleeve films.
