Hammerhead Industries Inc., Ventura, Calif., expanded its Gear Keeper instrument retractor line to include a retractable tethering system that securely hangs a barcode scanner from a forklift or packaging/assembly line, offering workers easy accessibility in use and secure storage when not in service.

In addition to the durable and compact design, each unit includes the patented Q/C-II connector, which allows quick and easy disconnection of the instrument from the tether. For those scanners without lanyard loop, an adhesive attachment pad is in also included.

The bar scanner tether is engineered so that the instrument, application and recoil/retraction force are in balance. When the retractable tether is extended for use, only minimal force is necessary, thereby avoiding worker fatigue or causing a ”kick” when the instrument is safely guided back to the secure storage position. Plus, each unit includes a thumb-controlled locking device that holds scanners at any point in the extension.
