By Michael Costa
Borden Cheese launched Crisps ‘n Cubes Snack Packs
March 24, 2020

PORTABLE CHEESE SNACK PACKS

Borden Cheese launched Crisps ‘n Cubes Snack Packs, a duo of crunchy 100% oven-baked cheese crisps and 100% real cheese cubes. They come in three different flavor combinations: Sharp Cheddar Crisps & Colby Jack Cubes; Jalapeño Crisps & Mild Cheddar Cubes; and Cheddar Crisps & White Cheddar Cubes. Borden Cheese Crisps ‘n Cubes is a low-carb option for a healthy on-the-go snack, with only 150 calories, 9 grams of protein, and less than 1 gram of carbohydrates per tray. Borden Cheese Crisps ‘n Cubes has no added hormones, no added sugar, no artificial preservatives, and is gluten free.

TURKEY TO-GO

Butterball's new Premium Snacks

Butterball’s new Premium Snacks line of portable turkey treats maximizes convenience without sacrificing taste, quality or the naturally lean protein option consumers seek today. Butterball Premium Snacks contain 100% all-natural seasoned turkey breast slices paired with sweet and savory sides. Inspired by distinct meal occasions there are three varieties in the line: Thanksgiving turkey breast with stuffing bites and dried cranberries; citrus teriyaki turkey breast with sesame sticks and dried pineapple pieces; and Cajun turkey breast with cornbread crisps and dried apple pieces. Each snack contains 10 grams of protein, and only 140-180 calories per serving.

PLANT-BASED POWER POCKETS

Sweet Earth Foods

Sweet Earth Foods debuted POGOs (Power-On-the-GO snacks). Powered with the functional benefits of prebiotics, probiotics (1 billion CFUs) and fiber (5 grams), the convenient ‘thaw and eat’ or ‘heat and eat’ handheld items come in six different flavors, including Blackberry, Chocolate, Chai, Dulce, Figgy, and Lemon Poppy. POGOs contain vibrant colors derived from colorful vegetables, fruits and spices, and this evolution of modern snacking supports the Sweet Earth brand’s mission of increasing access to flavor-forward and nutrient-dense plant-based foods.

SNACKABLE COOKIE DOUGH CHUNKS

nackable cookie dough

Ben & Jerry's has introduced two new flavors to its line of snackable cookie dough chunks: Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Half Baked Chunks, which is a mixture of chocolate chip cookie dough and fudge brownies. These two new flavors join Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough in the snackable chunks lineup. Raw cookie dough has become a global phenomenon, but Ben & Jerry's are the dough-riginals. In 1984 they were the first national ice cream company to add chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough into a batch of ice cream.

NEW EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH FLAVORS

edible cookie dough

Nestlé Toll House launched two new varieties of edible cookie dough—Nestlé Toll House Funfetti Edible Cookie Dough and Edible Fudge Brownie Batter. Funfetti Edible Cookie Dough is great for sweet treat lovers who wish every day was their birthday, while chocoholics can enjoy a decadent experience with Edible Fudge Brownie Batter. Both new flavors are made with the same ingredients you use in your mixing bowl at home, like real butter, but Nestlé Toll House Edible Cookie Doughs are safe to eat right out of the tub, since ingredients important for the baking process, like eggs, have been removed.

GLUTEN-FREE, DAIRY-FREE POCKETS

dairy-free hand-held meals and snacks

Mikey’s, a pioneer in gluten-free, dairy-free hand-held meals and snacks, introduced two new savory flavors: Buffalo-Style Chicken and Cauliflower & Broccoli Cheddar. The two new varieties join Mikey's popular Pepperoni Pizza and Cheese Pockets to give consumers a variety of tastes for lunch, dinner and in-between snacking, while Egg & Cheese, and Egg, Ham & Cheese pockets provide a convenient breakfast option. Mikey's continues to be a market leader in meeting the needs of allergen friendly, clean label, better-for-you consumers with meal solutions for every eating occasion.

VEGETARIAN, GLUTEN-FREE WRAPS

Cool Beans

Cool Beans launched three new wraps at the 2020 Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco. These include Moroccan Gold, which is inspired by outdoor spice markets with bold flavors and distinctive texture; Spicy Chipotle, with mix of veggies and a kick of poblano chili peppers; and Tikka Masala, blending traditional Indian-style spices and coconut milk for a flavor that’s sweet and peppery. Each wrap is plant-based, vegetarian, and gluten-free.

SUGAR-FREE BACON ENDS AND PIECES

Wellshire Farms

Wellshire Farms, a leader in the all-natural and organic meat industry, has expanded its sugar-free line of wholesome bacon offerings with the launch of its Sugar-Free, Dry-Rubbed Uncured Bacon Ends & Pieces, which are gluten, soy and casein free, contain no celery powder and have 37% less sodium. They’re also made with pork that is raised without antibiotics and fed a vegetarian diet. All Wellshire Farms products are minimally processed and free of artificial flavors and preservatives.

CLEAN-LABEL CREAM CHEESE SPREADS

Tillamook

Tillamook has launched its Farmstyle label with four new spreadable cream cheese flavors--Original, Very Veggie, Seriously Strawberry, and Aged Cheddar--all with an eye on clean labeling/clean ingredients. The Farmstyle line of flavors includes the world’s first Aged Cheddar cream cheese, made with Tillamook’s sharp white cheddar. The Original flavor has fewer ingredients than most cream cheese products found on store shelves today. The new recipes are without gums, fillers, stabilizers or preservatives, giving consumers a cleaner option that delivers on what cream cheese spread should actually taste like.

PERRY’S ICE CREAM LAUNCHES 20 NEW FLAVORS

ice cream

Perry’s Ice Cream Company, Inc., a Great Lakes regional brand and Upstate New York’s #1 ice cream, announced the largest expansion to their portfolio to date with 17 new retail flavors and three new flavors exclusively for scoop shops. MEXICAN-INSPIRED HELADOS

Mexican-inspired helados

Atlanta-based High Road Craft Brands Inc. launched a full line of Mexican-inspired helados at HEB supermarkets throughout Texas. The new addition to the High Road Craft Brands portfolio places an emphasis on the authentic flavors of Mexico. Helados La Neta came to be through discovering the notion of speaking ‘La Neta’, which directly translates to ‘the truth’. With honest flavor profiles like Crema de Coco (Coconut Cream), Aguacate con Limón (Avocado and Lime), Chocolate con Canela (Chocolate and Cinnamon), Horchata Clásica (Classic Horchata), Vainilla de México (Mexican Vanilla), Ron con Pasas (Rum and Raisin), and Fresas con Crema (Strawberries and Cream). Helados La Neta will also be making a debut in Walmart and Kroger in Texas this spring.
