LOGISTICS BRIEFS: Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc. honored C.R. England Inc., Salt Lake City, Utah, as Wal-Mart's "2008 Dedicated Grocery Carrier of the Year" and "2008 Grocery Carrier of the Year." "Wal-Mart realizes the continued pressure and challenges facing the transportation industry," said Ken Braunbach, Wal-Mart's senior director of carrier relations. "C.R. England's ability to rise above these obstacles has won our utmost trust and confidence." . . . This February saw The Dannon Company, White Plains, N.Y. and Danone Inc. (Canada) issue seven "2008 Supplier of the Year" awards, including one to contract logistics services provider Exel, Westerville, Ohio. Dannon recognized Exel's Dayton, Ohio, warehouse for performance across several areas, including its ability to maintain a 100 percent order-fill rate for 15 continuous months. . . Lift truck equipment supplier Toyota Material Handling USA Inc., Irvine, Calif., said it named Mark Steenrod to national dealer development manager. Jewell Brown was named national fleet sales and operations manager. Payman Shabbak was named national strategic planning and pricing manager.
