Chicago baker buys Yarnell's ice cream
The Associated Press reported that Schulze and Burch Biscuit Company, Chicago, paid $1.3 million for some assets and the real estate of Yarnell's Ice Cream Co., a Searcy, Ark., firm that filed for bankruptcy and closed operations in June.
Interestingly enough, Schulze and Burch operates a bakery in Searcy. The company produces bakery bars, filled products, cookies, crackers, cereal and ingredients for contract and private label customers. The AP said Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce President Buck Layne told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that Schulze and Burch plans to reopen Yarnell's.
