UK-based distribution and warehousing specialist Premier Logistics turned to vehicle tracking and fleet management specialist, Verilocation, UK, to improve efficiency, fleet control and economies company-wide.

Delivering throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe, Premier Logistics’ 24-hour trucking, container shipping and groupage services are supported by cross-docking, automated picking and extensive warehousing operations.

“The fleet management system was installed with no interruption to our business and it bolted onto our existing traffic office procedures,” adds Steel. “Since then, we have benefited from live tracking and telematics reporting across the fleet. This gives us the management information to integrate a range of cost saving measures—from automatic route planning and geofencing to driver education and training.  Furthermore, using GPS real-time tracking, we can let our customers know precisely when deliveries and collections are expected, and through the on-board CANbus technology and fuel analysis, achieve actual MPG improvements, which in turn, helps us to remain competitive on our customers’ behalf. Moreover, we benefit from reduced CO2 emissions and less vehicle wear and tear.”

The system also facilitates a web-based track-and-trace service that provides PODs within five seconds from the drivers’ PDA. Meanwhile, the customer portal allows customers to book all jobs online, directly with the Premier Logistics’ operations team. 

Premier Logistics also reports time savings from the automated booking system, which allows specific jobs to be allocated in a fraction of the time previously required. Plus, every customer receives a full audit trail for each vehicle journey, and with reduced administration, which greatly reduces the margin for error.

In addition to providing fleet management services for tractive units, Verilocation is supplying Premier Logistics with real-time GPS trailer tracking and monitoring.
