Iowa Cold Storage, LLC, Altoona, Iowa, announced plans to acquire ICS Logistics, LLC, based in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.

“Warehousing and logistics are what we do best,” says Gary Jones, managing director of Iowa Cold Storage. “Linking both companies together will permit us to offer our customers integrated warehousing and transportation solutions designed to meet individual customer requirements, reduce costs and increase flexibility in dealing with market conditions and delivery requirements.”

Chris VanSchapen and Jamey Franzen will serve as presidents of ICS Logistics and Iowa Cold Storage respectively.

“We believe this acquisition will permit the ICS Group to deliver exceptional value for our customers,” adds Jones. “Having a strategic warehouse location at the crossroads of America offers us a pronounced opportunity to enhance our warehousing and transportation offerings.”

Iowa Cold Storage offers a complete tariff of value-added services, including commodity storage, foodservice and retail products, order selection, raw-meat boxing, tempering of meat products and blast freezing, and is serviced by both the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads. Plus, it completed a 50,000-square-foot addition in January, bringing its total pallet capacity to 24,500.

With over 40 years of continuous operation, ICS Logistics LLC is a transportation and brokerage company operating 58 owner-operated late model tractor units and 120 refrigerated trailers servicing the lower 48 states and Canada.
