Redline Detection, Orange, Calif., unveiled the HD PowerSmoke for heavy duty trucks, buses and commercial, industrial and agricultural applications.

Developed in collaboration with a heavy duty OEM, HD PowerSmoke replicates a high-pressure boost load, so the entire system can be tested for faults with the engine safely off. It is said to be the only diagnostic machine in the heavy duty market that can, in a single 10-minute procedure, reliably detect any high-pressure leak, pinpoint its exact location and precisely identify failing components, saving heavy duty truck operators and fleets valuable time and keeping trucks on the road.

How it works is, HD PowerSmoke tests the whole intake and exhaust system, from the airbox to the exhaust tip, in one simple test that takes under 10 minutes. This easy, single-test procedure will identify and eliminate virtually all of the non-fuel-related DPF problems on all heavy duty vehicles. Leaks forward of the DPF can trip diagnostic trouble lights caused by excessive regeneration events or a plugged diesel particulate filter. Plus, HD PowerSmoke’s OEM-mandated, vapor-producing fluid is safe for technicians, vehicle engines and the environment.
