New Cartons & Containers

March 17, 2015

BIO-BASED CARTON

Tetra Pak released Tetra Rex Bio-based, what is said to be the first bio-based carton manufactured solely from a combination of plastics derived from plants and paperboard. The low-density polyethylene used to create the laminate film and the neck of the opening together with the high-density polyethylene used for the cap are all derived from sugar cane, are FSC-certified and are traceable to their origins.

rPET PACKAGING FOR FOOD ON THE GO

Tri-Star Packaging unveiled a new hinged hybrid pack that makes it easy for operators to display to-go salads, sushi and bakery products. The new Coalesce pack features an ultra-clear hinged lid attached to a board base that can be printed internally and externally for greater brand presence and ultimate shelf impact. The see-through rPET lid creates a large viewing area for increased visibility. It’s easy to stack, reduces packaging inventory and an integrated tamper-evident design cuts labelling costs. Plus, the board is produced using wood fibers sourced only from sustainably managed forests.

SECONDARY PACKAGING SOLUTION

Georgia-Pacific Corrugated released Brand Ready Packaging (BRP), which uses a forward-thinking design process, exacting production techniques and proprietary consumer insights to provide effective in-store secondary packaging. Key BRP differentiators include the company’s Innovation Institute, which uses a 5-step process to guide ideation, product development and design. And, the Clean and Easy-Perf perforation solution offers a smarter, stronger, more organized, appeal-proven display. This packaging works in tandem with the company’s Color-Box capability to deliver high-graphics packaging solutions.
