Duravant Acquires Spain-Based Flexible Packaging Equipment Manufacturer

Duravant, a Downers Grove, Ill.-based engineered equipment manufacturer serving the food processing, packaging and material handling sectors, acquired Mespack, a Barcelona, Spain-based manufacturer of flexible packaging equipment specializing in horizontal form-fill-seal technologies for flexible sachet, pouch and stick packs.
Mespack is a designer and manufacturer of film packaging equipment serving the food, beverage and confectionary sectors, among others. Mespack's product range includes form-fill-seal machines, multi-lane machines, pre-made pouch filling equipment and continuous motion filling systems.
"We are thrilled to welcome Mespack to the family of Duravant operating companies," says Mike Kachmer, chief executive officer of Duravant. "Mespack is a true global packaging provider, and their international product design expertise and export management capabilities enable Duravant to broaden our product and service portfolio into new geographic regions."
In conjunction with the acquisition, Enric Marti, chairman of the board and CEO of Mespack, announced his retirement. A long-time packaging industry influencer, Marti transformed Mespack into a leading designer and manufacturer of highly sophisticated and versatile flexible packaging machinery.
Marti will be succeeded by Reinout Van Zijp, who will be leading Mespack as managing director. Van Zijp joined Mespack in 2001, responsible for the company's global growth and expansion throughout Europe, China, India and Latin America.
