AIT Worldwide Logistics Expands to Mexico

June 18, 2015

AIT Worldwide Logistics, Itasca, Ill., announced the opening of its first office in Mexico. Located in the northwestern city of Hermosillo, the new AIT facility is poised to make a significant contribution to the company’s ongoing global expansion.

AIT’s 48th office will work closely with the company’s Laredo, Texas-based U.S. Customs broker to efficiently execute cross-border shipments. The new facility is located in the Hermosillo Industrial Park Cluster of Tier 1 vendors near Ford Motor Co.’s Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly Plant, just 10 kilometers south of downtown with convenient highway access to nearby General Ignacio Pesqueira García International Airport.

In addition to enhancing the products utilized by current global accounts, AIT is now an increasingly logical option for Mexican companies looking for a global supply chain partner with local presence and expertise.

“Establishing AIT-Hermosillo is an important strategic step in our global plans for 2015, and this expansion into Mexico is already supporting new growth opportunities for our customer base,” says Keith Tholan, AIT executive vice president.

AIT-Hermosillo will be led by station manager Jose Luis Gomez, who maintains 10 years of experience overseeing supply chain operations in Mexico. He is International Air Transport Association (IATA)-trained to handle dangerous goods shipments and is also a certified supply chain professional with APICS.
