Flanagan Foodservice opens new distribution center
The new facility features dry warehouse space, a temperature-controlled dock, two freezers and multiple temperature-controlled coolers to store more than 10,000 unique products.
Flanagan Foodservice, Canada, opened a new $25 million distribution center in Whitby, Canada.
Flanagan Foodservice purchased the existing 80,000-square-foot building and expanded it by 100,000 square feet of refrigerated capacity in one of the largest undertakings in the history of the company.
The new facility features dry warehouse space, a temperature-controlled dock, two freezers and multiple temperature-controlled coolers to store more than 10,000 unique products.
Coldbox Builders, Canada, designed and built the facility’s cascade ammonia and carbon dioxide refrigeration system, which reduces energy by approximately 20% and is said to be the second of its kind in Canada.
“We’re proud to be providing 100 jobs in Whitby and the Durham Region, with more to come,” says Dan Flanagan, president and CEO. “We strategically selected this location to help us better serve our fast-growing customer base in the Greater Toronto Area and Eastern Ontario while building on our commitment to service excellence.”
