 Sites in Walton and Buffalo will undergo upgrades to increase capacity and gain efficiencies.

 The Wisconsin-based company will soon add a new slice line to the packaging operation and install their fourth automated packaging machine.

The company was the first in the world to create vegan cheese from plant-based milk using fermentation technology and patented processes it says creates a product nearly indistinguishable from dairy-based cheese. 

The new 158,000-square-foot building also houses Emmi Roth’s new state-of-the-art conversion facility, which will cup, bag, wedge, shred, and crumble the company’s cheese products for a variety of leading brands.

New retail partners now carrying the deliciously melty zero dairy slices include, Fresh Thyme Market, Town and Country Foods, and Fred Meyer stores.

The supplier of kefir and fermented probiotic products plans to increase cheese production, along with investments in technology that will cut production time by more than half.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Hilmar Cheese Company jointly announced the company’s decision to build a new state-of-the-art cheese and whey protein processing plant in Dodge City, Kansas. The new facility is expected to create 247 new jobs and represents $460 million in capital investment. The project is estimated to bring an additional $550 million in capital investment and 750 new jobs within a fifty-mile radius of Dodge City by late 2023.

Finlandia Cheese is changing its name to Valio USA. The new name will facilitate the company’s expansion into new, innovative categories like plant-based products, and provide a closer connection between the subsidiary and its parent company in corporate branding and messaging. Due to its strong recognition among consumers, Finlandia will remain the brand name for Valio USA’s cheese and butter line. 

Lactalis Group has entered into a definitive agreement for the acquisition by its U.S. affiliate of Kraft Heinz’s Natural, Grated, Cultured and Specialty cheese businesses in the U.S., Grated cheese business in Canada and entire International Cheese business outside North America. With this acquisition, Lactalis will acquire a portfolio of iconic, strongly-positioned brands that include Cracker Barrel, Breakstone’s, Knudsen, Polly-O, Athenos, Hoffman’s and, outside the U.S. and Canada only, Cheez Whiz. In addition, Kraft Heinz will partner with Lactalis on a perpetual license for Kraft in Natural, Grated and International cheeses and Velveeta in Natural and International cheeses.
