Dairy Farmers of America to serve as proposed “stalking horse bidder” in a court-supervised sale process for the assets of Dean Foods.

Dean Foods Company (“Dean Foods” or the “Company”) today announced that it and certain of its subsidiaries have entered into an asset purchase agreement with Dairy Farmers of America (“DFA”) through which DFA will acquire a substantial portion of Dean Foods’ business operations. Pursuant to the agreement, if consummated, DFA will acquire 44 of the Company’s fluid and frozen facilities and the real estate, inventory, equipment, and all other assets necessary to operate such facilities (the “Stalking Horse Assets”).

In this position, Mr. Butler will oversee sales efforts and amplify the company’s brand and scope in the Midwest region.

The California dairy business is not getting any easier, according to a new report by the Food & Agribusiness Research (FAR) and Advisory, a Netherlands-based wholly owned unit of Rabobank Group, which also owns Roseville, Calif.-based Rabobank N.A.
Canada-based Amalgamated Dairies Ltd. (ADL) and Gay Lea Foods Co-operative Ltd., also based in Canada, launched the Co-operative Dairy Alliance (CDA) to strengthen cooperation between two of Canada's leading dairy cooperatives.
Nelson-Jameson, a Marshfield, Wis.-based supplier to U.S. dairy processors, and its sister company Kaestner, LLC, a field service, preventative maintenance programs and project solutions provider also based in Marshfield, Wis., entered a strategic partnership with Valcour Process Technologies, a dairy equipment manufacturer headquartered in Peru, N.Y.
The Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy, Rosemont, Ill., presented its 2014 U.S. Dairy Sustainability Report, which outlines center-led research programs and activities and references specific actions being taken by more than 100 U.S. dairy farms, businesses and partnerships.
