United Supermarkets in New Mexico Donate $47,373 to Roadrunner Food Bank

New Mexico Roadrunner Food Bank United Supermarkets Albertsons Grocery Donation
August 3, 2021

United Family stores Albertsons Market and Market Street presented New Mexico's Roadrunner Food Bank with a check for $46,373.87 following a statewide donate-at-the-register fundraiser campaign.

All United Family stores in the state participated in the fundraiser including Market Street in Santa Fe. The funds raised during this campaign will go to help Roadrunner Food Bank combat food insecurity and hunger across the state of New Mexico.

"We are so proud to continue our tradition of support for the Roadrunner Food Bank,” said Travis Chaney, RVP for Albertsons Market/The United Family. "We know just how much these funds mean to the organizations who fight hunger and the families they serve. I am thankful to our team and community for their incredible support of Roadrunner’s mission."

“Thank you Albertsons Market and customers! The donations made at the register in July will help provide more than 230,000 meals,” said Mag Strittmatter, president and CEO of Roadrunner Food Bank. “Thank you for caring about people experiencing hunger and making a difference in so many lives across our state including children, seniors and families.  The need is still high with 1 in 4 children and 1 in 6 people overall facing hunger. We are tremendously grateful to Albertsons Market for making this campaign possible.  It takes us all to make our community a better place and you all a key part in the improving lives of people we serve.”

Individuals from across New Mexico receive support from Roadrunner and their over 500 member partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools, and senior centers, among others. Because of fundraisers like these, they are able to help 70,000 hungry people every week of the year.
