As long, sunny days set the tone, LaClare Creamery has once again expanded its fresh goat cheese line with a citrusy-sweet twist: Lemon Bar Goat Cheese. This flavor was recently awarded second place in the Flavored Goat Milk Cheese category at the 2025 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest. Crafted with LaClare’s award-winning Original Goat Cheese as its base, this gluten-free, sunshine-inspired flavor combines real lemon and a touch of vanilla to deliver a creamy indulgence perfect for warm-weather dishes and desserts.
“With [the] Lemon Bar [cheese], we knew we could deliver something truly special,” said Patrick Considine, national sales director at LaClare Creamery. “It feels elevated yet accessible — a familiar flavor with a modern twist. Because we use goat milk that travels a short distance from farm to creamery, our chèvre is incredibly fresh — and you can really taste that in every bite. That fresh base allows the lemon and vanilla to really shine without overshadowing the creamy, tangy goat cheese people love.”
Just like the classic dessert, LaClare’s Lemon Bar Goat Cheese strikes the right balance of sweet and tart without being overly sugary, making it a refreshing choice for warm weather. Lemon bars often bring a sense of nostalgia, but their bright, citrus-forward profile also aligns with culinary trends that favor clean, fresh flavors. With its creamy, spreadable texture, this chèvre can even stand in for lemon juice and dairy in recipes like pasta al limone, peach and lemon goat cheese summer salad, or lemon berry goat cheese cheesecake.
This thoughtful flavor craftsmanship has not gone unnoticed. LaClare Creamery brought home multiple honors from the Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest, reinforcing its reputation for exceptional goat cheese. LaClare’s Lemon Bar Goat Cheese earned second place in the Flavored Goat Milk Cheese category, while LaClare’s Maple Bourbon flavor claimed first place. Additional top honors included first place for LaClare’s Original Goat Cheese in the Natural Goat Milk Cheese category and first place for its Honey Goat Cheese Crumbled Cup in the Crumbled Cheese class.
“We’re proud to have [the] Lemon Bar [cheese] recognized at the Wisconsin State Fair,” Considine said. “This award validates our team’s commitment to creating unique, high-quality flavors. We believed in this recipe from the start, and now we have the recognition to confirm it.”
