Mason Dixie Foods Scales Distribution at Costco, Wegmans, Whole Foods Market

Mason Dixie Foods, the frozen comfort food brand best-known for its clean-label biscuits, handheld sandwiches and waffles, is bringing its products to more consumers as distribution quickly hits over 8,500 doors, a 35% jump in year-over-year growth. Retailers, including Costco, Wegmans and Whole Foods Market, are responding to consumer demand for convenient, quality food that replicates restaurant-quality ingredients and flavors.

“We’re on a mission to clean up the frozen food aisle with better ingredients and great-tasting comfort food,” said Ayeshah Abuelhiga, founder and CEO of Mason Dixie Foods. “When we took our beloved restaurant biscuits to retail in 2015, we committed to never compromising on ingredients. Our growth from a single restaurant to nationwide distribution reflects consumer and retailer demand for cleaner products that deliver on both taste and convenience.”

After nearly doubling its Costco presence in less than one year, Mason Dixie’s award-winning Pancake Sandwich, deemed the “McGriddle dupe” by consumers, is now available in more than half of all Costco locations, bringing the brand’s signature breakfast innovation to club shoppers seeking quality comfort food. Like all of Mason Dixie’s products, the Pancake Sandwich is made with only fresh, quality ingredients and no artificial flavors, additives or preservatives.

In one of the biggest lean-ins from a retailer in Mason Dixie’s history, Wegmans will carry an unprecedented 10 products simultaneously across all its locations, including breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos and biscuits. This type of product rollout is extremely rare for most emerging brands and represents a significant vote of confidence in Mason Dixie’s market position.

Introduced earlier this year at Expo West, Mason Dixie’s newest products – Crispy Chicken Sandwiches and Breakfast Burritos – are rolling out at Whole Foods Market now, joining its growing product line of handhelds, waffles and biscuits already carried by the natural grocer. The single-serve crispy chicken sandwiches come in two flavors and are made with all-white-meat chicken breast, using the same marinade recipe from the original restaurant, Mason Dixie Biscuit Co. The single-serve, skillet-cooked burritos are wrapped in soft, small-batch tortillas, have 14-15 grams of protein and can be prepared in under two minutes.
