Supplier Shorts: A leading supplier of flexible and thermoformed packaging, Curwood Inc., Oshkosh, Wis., said it is celebrating its 50th anniversary. A Bemis Company subsidiary, Curwood traces its roots to a New London, Wis., start-up by Howard Curler, a chemical engineer; and Bob Woods, a mechanical engineer. The company first specialized in polyethylene films and later expanded to vacuum packaging equipment. . . . Food safety and GMP auditor ASI Food Safety Consultants, St. Louis, said it now is partnering with Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an Oslo, Norway-based specialist in management system accreditation and prdouct certifications. ASI says the deal enables it to provide audits to Global Food Safety Initiative standards, including the British Retail Consortium (BRC), International Food Standard (IFS) and Safety Quality Food (SQF). To date, DNV is certified for BRC and IFS standard acceditations.
