Two California companies -- Chino's Western Meat Packing Inc. and Sherman Oaks' House of David Kosher Chicken -- each plan to build new processing plants in Tulare County, Calif. Company officials say the $70 million operation will process approximately 1,000 head of cattle per shift. West Liberty Foods, West Liberty, Iowa, reportedly completed a 24,000-sq.-ft. addition to its Tremonton, Utah, deli meat processing plant. . . . The Associated Press said Pine Bluff Poultry LLC will delay opening and operating its Pine Bluff, Ark., plant (formerly owned by Tyson Foods) until January 2009. Officials cited credit financing problems for the setback.
