One of Europe’s top-selling frozen pizza processors, Dr. Oetker, Bielefeld, Germany, will create a new line that will be marketed and sold in the U.S. Fabio Viviani, owner and executive chef for Café Firenze, Ventura, Calif., and a featured star on Bravo’s “Top Chef” television series, will team up with the company to promote and develop Dr. Oetker’s Ristorante frozen pizzas.
“Growing up in Italy, my mom often had Dr. Oetker’s products in the home, so I’m excited to help introduce Ristorante brand frozen pizzas to American households,” says Viviani. “As a chef, I am very particular about the ingredients that I select. That’s why I am a fan of Dr. Oetker’s Ristorante pizza because it features fresh, high-quality ingredients - such as spinach, mozzarella, mushrooms and other vegetables on a thin, crispy crust.”
William Whalen, executive vice president, Dr. Oetker USA LLC, said the pizza will debut this summer in Northeast markets. Dr. Oetker has North American offices in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and Mount Laurel, N.J. The German parent company also is known for baking and dessert mixes, as well as preserves.
