Bob Evan Farms, Inc., the Columbus, Ohio-based producer of frozen meals and entrees, broke ground on its new corporate headquarters in New Albany, Ohio, with an anticipated move-in date of October 2013.

”Bob Evans Farms is a food company, and we knew our corporate headquarters needed to reflect that first and foremost,” says Steven A. Davis, chairman and CEO. “The kitchen is the “heart of the home,” so our test kitchens-truly a world-class food innovation center-will be central to the entire campus. Our corporate chefs and indeed all our employees will be able to bring farm-fresh inspiration to their work.”

The campus will include orchards, gardens honoring company founders Bob, Dan and Emerson Evans, a natural pond and “farmstead” layout. The heritage and story of the company will be prominently displayed in the main lobby.

“We intend the campus to be an interactive, educational farm experience for employees and visitors,” says Davis.

The company also announced its commitment to achieving Gold LEED certification with a sustainable, energy efficient and environmentally friendly campus. Employee workspaces will be open, collaborative environments that encourage innovation and teamwork.

The company also announced that Corna Kokosing Construction Co., Westerville, Ohio, has been selected as the design-build contractor on the project, alongside Real Estate Development Advisors (RDA) and M+A Architects.

“We’re very pleased to have selected Corna Kokosing for this project,” says Joe Eulberg, executive vice president of human resources for Bob Evans. “We are also excited about the jobs that this project will create in Central Ohio. Bob Evans Farms and Corna Kokosing are committed to participating with women and minority- owned contractors in support of the MBE/EDGE program.”
