Maxwell, Seaboard acquire Butterball turkey
Maxwell Farms, LLC, Goldsboro, N.C., and Seaboard Corporation, Merriam, Kan., said they finalized a nine-month purchase of turkey processor Butterball, LLC from Murphy-Brown, LLC. Officials said Maxwell Farms, LLC and Seaboard Corporation are now equal partners of Butterball, LLC.
“We are pleased to have concluded the purchase of Butterball, the strongest brand in the turkey industry, and to now be partners with Seaboard,” said Walter Pelletier, Maxwell Farms president. “The Butterball brand has a bright future ahead, and we look forward to working with Seaboard to continue to build the Butterball legacy.”
“Butterball is an iconic brand name in the United States, representing superior quality, outstanding value and excellent customer service,” added Steve Bresky, Seaboard president and CEO. “We look forward to our participation with the Butterball management team and the Maxwell group and bringing additional value to this great company.”
Butterball, Garner, N.C., produces more than one billion pounds of turkey annually and distributes products to more than 30 countries, officials said. Butterball has seven U.S. plants.
