Let's face it. Healthy food choices often get left behind when life gets in the way. That's whyLifestyle Foods, York, Pa., says it developed four new side salads, each under 150 calories.
"Geared toward consumers looking for nutritious options to fit their own style and schedule, the delicious side salads are perfect for on-the-go convenience," the company says. "Although filling as a complete meal, the new line is also a smart replacement for French fries or a bag of chips, at only a fraction of the calorie count."
The new line includes a Garden Salad, available with low-fat Ranch or Italian dressings as well as petite carrots and grape tomatoes blend on a bed of fresh romaine lettuce. The Caesar salad has a mix of herb-seasoned croutons accompanied by a low-fat Caesar dressing. A Spring Mix variety includes gourmet micro-greens mingle with carrots, tomatoes and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. A fork is also provided in every package.
Lifestyle says the new salads come in streamlined packaging to reduce the label size and amount of plastic consumed. The containers also utilize post-consumer recycled material in their construction, further decreasing the product line's overall environmental impact. Post-consumer plastics are made from materials that would otherwise end up in landfill sites.
